IndiGo to Resume Direct Kolkata-Siem Reap Flights

Indian airline IndiGo is set to bring back a direct service between Kolkata and Siem Reap, with flights restarting on October 1, 2026.

The State Secretariat of Civil Aviation said the route will operate three times a week, on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, using Airbus A320neo aircraft. SSCA spokesman Sinn Chansereyvutha said the revival is expected to support tourism and strengthen commercial links between Cambodia and India.

Seasonal pause comes to an end

Chansereyvutha said the Kolkata-Siem Reap service was first launched in November 2025 but was suspended because of seasonal demand factors. He added that reopening the route should help travel, pilgrimage and trade connections, while giving tour operators a better chance to develop packages for Indian visitors.

He said Siem Reap Angkor International Airport is fully prepared to handle the airline’s return and ensure safe, efficient operations. National carrier Air Cambodia continues to operate direct flights between Phnom Penh and New Delhi.

Tourism boost expected

Thoun Sinan, president of the Pacific Asia Travel Association’s Cambodia chapter, said India remains one of the world’s largest tourism markets, ranking second only to China. He said IndiGo’s return could bring meaningful benefits to Cambodia’s tourism and trade sectors.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, Cambodia welcomed 71,046 Indian visitors in 2025, an 8.5% decline from 2024. In the first eight months of 2026, arrivals from India totaled 35,905, down 19.2% from the same period last year.

The SSCA said that as of August 2026, four domestic airlines and 29 international carriers were operating in Cambodia.
